We all agree that having a website that attracts clients is what we are striving for. Right?

Well, sort of...

Here is a line you will hear:

"The Internet is the most powerful way to put your massage practice in front of billions of people overnight."

Sounds dandy. Sign me up!

You quickly found out that it's not that simple though...

What's this about keywords, metatags, domain names, Google AdSense, back links, front links, hyperlinks, Search Engine Optima....what?, yadda, yadda, yadda...???

Your massage website IS important. It's the hub where everything comes together.

Or at least it should be.

You NEED to be found on the FIRST PAGE of search engines when potential clients do a search on the Internet for "massage in YOUR hometown."

Then of course, you need to have quality content that provides these prospective clients with what they are looking for.

Ahhh...but this is easier said than done. Let's look at an example...

You decide to name your massage practice 'Lovey Dovey Day Spa.' (Fill in the name of your practice if you don't like my silly name.)

You create your massage website with a lot of references to Lovey Dovey Day Spa so you get found in the search engines and after a few weeks you've achieved your goal: #1 on Google!

But wait! Your phone isn't any busier than it was prior to having a website, or, being number one in the search engines. What went wrong?? This is the first issue, or problem #1.

Here's the key: No one 'knows your name' so to speak, so they don't perform a search for Lovey Dovey Day Spa, they perform a search for, 'massage in (your city.)' Or, '(your city) massage.' Can you see the problem here?

Sure, you may be number one in the search engines for just one or two keywords, but if no one is searching for the name of your massage business then it's of no value!

Please note that I'm not telling you to discount the name of your massage business. What I am telling you is that you need multiple strong keywords on every page of your site.

Problem #2 is that most therapists are overly concerned about the 'image' of their webpage. Image is important, but don't spent numerous hours being concerned about it. The content, or information you provide is much more important than the pretty flowers or the yin yang symbol or whatever picture you put on your page.

Last but certainly not least, is using to many features on your massage website, as compared to explaining the benefits of what it is you do in a emotionally attractive manner.

To explain, a feature is something like trigger point therapy. A benefit of trigger point therapy is that it may resolve the lower back pain issues of a client so they now can improve their golf game. Clients want the benefits, not endless massage features that most don't understand.

I've yet to have someone come into my office and say, "Gee, I've never received trigger point therapy. I'll try that today!" First, most people don't understand all the medical mumbo jumbo terminology we in the medical profession use. So, why use it? Second, clients want the benefits of trigger point therapy, or even a simple feature such as hot stone therapy.

Clients may recognize this feature and ask for it by name, yet please remember, they are after the benefits, not the features! I've never had a client visit for hot stone therapy just because it sounded cool, or wanted me to use rocks on them! To make a long ramble short, use emotional descriptions and benefits to support the features you list on your massage website.

The program I outline below solves these problems. Oh, and yes, it is a problem. You've probably already spent hundreds of dollars (if not more) and coutless hours creating your massage website and it's not working if you are reading this. But again, have no fear!

Let's keep reading before I reveal how to solve this problem. Here's another key point you must understand:

People find your massage website based on their OWN "Marketing Timeline."

Let's look at this on a scale of 1 to 10. "1" is they don't know anything about massage, or, you and your services, and don't have any intention on scheduling with you. Something caught their eye and they landed on your website.

A "10" is someone who wants a massage RIGHT NOW, finds your massage website and schedules immediately.

Keep this in mind...

We don't know 'where they are' on this marketing timeline when they find your massage website and click on it.

Well, HOPEFULLY they click on your page!

If you follow my recommendation below we'll take the 'hope' out of the equation.

What does all this mean to you?

You must provide your contact information and your specific Unique Selling Proposition in an obvious location on your massage website, and...
