What Massage School Do You Recommend?

Selecting a Massage School can be a daunting task! See what our esteemed fellow massage therapists have to say and what you may learn from their extensive experience ...

As mentioned on my other webpage, you need to figure out what your focus is and match this with what a certain school offers. Talk to the staff of the school in regards to cost, staff assistance, class size, what the school focuses on (such as medical massage, day spa environments, Eastern philosophy, etc., etc.,) and when you complete school, job placement! It doesn't do you a lot of good to complete school if they don't assist you in finding a job! Want to be an independent contractor? Ok, schedule a meeting with the instructor of the 'business' portion of class and see if s/he offers guidance in learning how to manage and operate your own business, successfully.

Oh, and one point I missed that I receive a lot of requests for: Review classes for National Certification, or the NCBTMB. This is critical to attend if you wish to pass the national exam on the first try ;) What you must remember is that your 'massage skills' and your ability to pass a critical test may not align ;( Thus, this class (if taught by an excellent instructor) will prepare you for this test. It's a shame that this test doesn't have a 'hands-on' portion, but perhaps they will in the future!

If you are a local here in Las Vegas, I highly recommend above all other Las Vegas massage therapy schools, Northwest Health Careers.

I graduated from Northwest Health Careers in 2003, and continue on with my massage practice upstairs in the same building, renting space from Dr. Kenny, the owner.

I've had such a good relationship with Northwest Health Careers and Dr. Kenny that I've also taken on the responsibility of massage continuing education coordinator.

There have been few changes in staff here, and they are all extremely friendly and helpful. Not interested in becomming a massage therapist? They also offer certification in Phelabotomy, Medical Assisting, Medical Billing and Coding as well as Dental Assisting. Once again, I cannot recommend Dr. Kenny and the entire staff at Northwest Health Careers highly enough!
